01.02.14 Benefits of Thrifting

Hello Sparklers across the globe! It's Katie! Today I am going to discuss all of the amazing benefits of shopping at thrift stores. There are truly so many different reasons that I am going to bullet them off so it won't take as long. :P lol (I'm so lazy).....

• The prices are cheaper.
• Shirts usually range from $0.25 to $5.00 depending on the store.
• Pants can be anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00.
• Dresses go from $2.59 to $25.00 depending on style and brand.
• You can find prom dresses there for way less than you would at boutiques and such.
• You can get name brand items for the fraction of the original cost.
• You won't feel guilty on spending too much money on a certain item.
• It's a great way to show originality and creativity.
• You can "Upcycle" an item and make it your own.
• Great for DIY projects.
• You can find unique, vintage pieces you wouldn't find in stores.
• Sometimes you find name brand pieces with the price tags still on them!

In order to find to best items you must have patience. Great items aren't just going to jump out at you and scream, "BUY ME!". You have to look fairly hard.

I have lucked out multiple times a found things like...

• A wedding dress in perfect condition for only $8.00.
• A Louis Vuitton purse for $25.00.
• Shirts, pants, and dresses from the following places and brands: Hollister, H&M, Aeropostale, Aerie, American Eagle, Forever 21, Rue 21, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi's, Kenneth Cole, and more!

Also, I just wanted to add in, if you find a shirt a little banged up, but you still kind of like it, don't turn it down right off the bat! You could Upcycle it! For those who haven't heard of Upcycling, I am going to link a really cool YouTube video of it at the bottom.

12.31.13 Crop Tops- Hot or not?

Hello Sparklers!  Lindsay here!  We have officially begun filming! Well, at least Katie has.  I, however, am waiting on my brother to leave the house so I don't have to deal with him watching me.  I know for a fact I'll get to film tonight if I don't today, though!

I can't wait until our videos go up tomorrow!  Look forward to a 2014 Makeup Look from Katie and 2014 Hair Styles from me!

CROP TOPS-HOT OR NOT?

I personally like them, especially when paired with a pair of high-waisted shorts or skirt.  I also think they look super cute in the summer!  What do you guys think?

12.30.13 JLaw vs. Joan Rivers

Howdy Sparklers! This is Katie here! Just wanted to give you the scoop on everything Sparkle!

Well, to start things off, tomorrow we plan on filming for our new segments on YouTube. Lindsay and I will be doing various things, some of which we will be filming together, and some we will do separately. If you have any suggestions on what we should do, just comment and we will see what we can come up with.

Oh yeah, I thought I would let you Sparklers in on the latest Hollywood scandal! For all you JLaw fans, this one's for you.....

Hunger Game's Jennifer Lawrence (or should I say "Hollywood's sweetheart) recently has gotten in a feud with Fashion Police's Joan Rivers. JLaw had made a comment about how shows like Fashion Police make young women feel like its okay to point out someone's flaws and call them fat or ugly. Joan Rivers was quick with a response and called out the Hollywood Sweetheart basically saying she should grow up. She pointed out that the young actress touches up her pictures on magazines and posters all the time, yet she feels that women shouldn't focus on retouching and enhancing their body image.

Hi Guys!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!

This is the very first Sparkle post ever!!!! I'm so excited!!!
